First Bite: Bunker Vietnamese
The Ridgefood team recently visited Bunker, the ‘wood’s first Vietnamese (!!!) restaurant. Nestled among bus barns and junkyards on Metropolitan, Bunker is a really chill spot with indie-surfer vibes, run by brothers and Queens natives Jimmy and Jacky Tu.
Bunker adds delectable but comfortable twists like bacon and havarti to classic Vietnamese banh mi, and they use hormone- and antibiotic-free chicken in their old family recipes.

I am a grad student at Hunter College’s School of Education and also waitress at Morimoto, an upscale Japanese restaurant in the Meatpacking/Chelsea area.

Stanley’s Pierogi on Metropolitan and Arnold Ave — right by Grover Cleveland High School. The potato and cheese ones are my favorite but they have other typical varieties (and blueberry) which are made fresh on the premises daily. Continue reading
